WHSF LEADERSHIP FELLOW PROGRAM

About the Program:

The Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation, Inc. / Mexican Fiesta is pleased to announce the WHSF Leadership Fellow Program, designed for undergraduate students or recent graduates (ages 18–23) attending 2- or 4-year Wisconsin colleges and universities.

This program provides emerging leaders in the Hispanic community with opportunities to gain valuable experience, strengthen leadership skills, and support initiatives that uplift Hispanic students and celebrate cultural heritage. Fellows will play an active role in planning and promoting Mexican Fiesta 2026, including contributing to the development of this year’s merchandise campaign and supporting marketing efforts.

This year’s program also offers an optional research component, allowing fellows to contribute to genealogy exhibits featured at Mexican Fiesta. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in history, Chicano/Latino movements, cultural heritage, and storytelling.

As a Leadership Fellow, participants will develop leadership and public speaking skills, build professional connections, and engage in meaningful community service, all while receiving incentives for their involvement!

Program Details:

Program Duration:

• The program lasts from June 1st, 2026, to September 30th, 2026

• Fellows are required to reapply each year if they wish to continue in the program

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a current student enrolled in an undergraduate 2- or 4-year institution or a recent graduate from a WI College/University

• Must be between the ages of 18-23 before the start of the program

• Must reside in Milwaukee County for duration of the program (or have a reliable form of transportation)

• Must have a reliable form of transportation

• Proficient in Spanish

Program Requirements:

• Must Attend a Mandatory Training & Pre-Mexican Fiesta Meeting

  • Training: Saturday, May 30th, 2026 (10am-12pm)

    • Mexican Fiesta Office (2997 S. 20th St. Milwaukee, WI 53215)

  • Meeting: Saturday, August 8th, 2026 (10am – 12pm)

    • Mexican Fiesta Office (2997 S. 20th St. Milwaukee, WI 53215)

• Must be available to Volunteer 8-10 hours during Mexican Fiesta 2026 @Merchandise Booth

  • August 21-23rd, 2026

• Must Attend & Table a minimum of 2 Outreach Tabling Events to promote the mission and programs of WHSF

• Must Attend a minimum of 2 WHSF events throughout the program year

Program Incentives:

• Admission Tickets to other United Ethnic Festivals (Summerfest, Irish Fest, German Fest, Festa Italiana, Pride Fest etc.)

• 1 Team Outing (e.g., Brewers, Bucks, or Wave game)

• Exclusive access to the Mexican Fiesta End-of-Year Volunteer Gala
