WHSF/Mexican Fiesta presents “OFRENDAS – Festival de los Muertos Tradición Viva!”

Milwaukee, WI – The Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation, Inc./Mexican Fiesta, a steadfast advocate for preserving and celebrating cultural traditions, is thrilled to announce an extraordinary event that promises to immerse you in the heart and soul of Mexican culture. “OFRENDAS – Festival de los Muertos Tradición Viva!” will transport you into one of the most iconic Mexican festivities, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Event Highlights:

On November 1st and 2nd, 2023, Flores Hall will be transformed into a vibrant and enchanting space, showcasing the richness of Dia de los Muertos. The event will feature a wide array of activities and experiences, including:

  1. Candlelight Ceremony: Join us for a candlelight ceremony to honor and remember our loved ones who have passed away. This solemn moment will be a reflection of the essence of Dia de los Muertos. Featuring an Aztec Ceremony.

  2. Theatrical Dances and Folklore: Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Mexican culture through special presentations of theatrical dances and folklore performances. These performances will bring the traditions to life in a colorful and engaging way.

  3. Pan De Muerto: Savor the authentic flavors of Mexico with our Pan De Muerto tasting. Indulge in these traditional treats that are synonymous with Dia de los Muertos.

  4. Community Altar: Visit the largest Community Altar, a centerpiece of the event, and feel free to bring a picture of your loved ones and/or an ofrenda to add to the collective remembrance and celebration.

  5. Tenampa Brass Band Concert: Be prepared for a spectacular performance by the Tenampa Brass Band, a group hailing from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, who will infuse the event with their distinctive sound and musical brilliance.

  6. Catrina showcase and contest: We encourage attendees to come in traditional Dia de los Muertos attire, Catrina or Catrin for a chance to win exciting prizes.

  7. Cuentos y Leyendas – Mexican Storytelling: Immerse yourself in the rich cultural tradition as a master storyteller captivates the audience with enchanting tales and legendary narratives from México.
